Anatomicals Review

Apologies for me being a little MIA recently, I just needed a lil break and some time to myself - don't we all sometimes? But don't you worry I am back and better than ever. Lets keep off with another review of some products I received from the brand Anatomicals!

The Anatomicals range is a UK based skincare range that have their own unique twist on their packaging and use of ingredients in their products, I don't think I have ever seen anything like this range on the market (yet) which I think makes this brand even better, that they are steering away from the norm and going above and beyond to be just that little bit different. What I really love about this brand however, is the fact that the range does not test on animals. If it is one thing that really upsets me is, loving a brand so much and then finding out that they test on animals - it really is a turn off.

The packaging of all of the products are really simplistic yet effective and of course, humorous. Each product has their own individual slogan to match the product, and who doesn't love a cheeky slogan?

Lets start with the masks!

The mattifying mask I think has to be my favourite so far, it really helped to get rid of excess oils and impurities which I really need, as my skin can get very oily very quickly, so having a mask that completely mattifies my face is a must. Putting it all over my face, waiting around 10 minutes and then washing it off I did see a difference in the first application from this mask! It also smelt amazing too! Some masks can smell weird sometimes but this one I feel smelt like the sea which really was an added bonus.

The deep cleansing mud mask was also a product that did the Anatomicals range justice, it smelt lovely too and not too 'clinical' as I think a lot of masks can smell very clinical due to all of the products squeezed inside. I used this mask when I was having a particular bad breakout day and my skin needed extra love and attention. My skin felt very refreshed and smooth after I washed it off and I definitely will be purchasing this again! Both of the masks were really easy to apply, they consistency of the masks weren't too thick nor thin, they were juuuuuuust right!

Now to the body cleansers...

The Get Lost Grime natural body cleanser includes ingredients such as papaya and mango - which is of course where the exotic citrus aroma comes from! The cleanser does not include any microbeads so it is very smooth on the skin and for me, did not irritate it at all. The product is handy for both women and men so anyone can use this! Which, I think makes this product and range even better. Both cleansers are free from DEA's, Sulphates, Parahens and SLS's so it is very kind to your skin!

The Every man/woman body cleanser also smells divine, like the Get Lost Grime, it includes fruit extracts to help produce a fruity citrus smell. This helped me feel so much more refreshed in the mornings when all I wanted to do was get back into bed. having a cleansers that helps to refresh your body for the day ahead is really an added bonus, in my opinion. By the name, I hope you can gather that this is also for the use of both men and women and again, is free from DEA's, Sulphates, Parabens and SLS's.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Ultimate Regime

After suffering quite badly with a breakout I decided to go into the body shop and have a look at the tea tree range, which claims to help with blemishes, blackheads and oily skin. All 3 things that I suffer from sometimes, especially oily skin.

I decided to opt for the 'Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Ultimate Regime' kit which was £26 and products in it that equated to £40, so it was a bloody good deal, even if bought the same products with a student discount, I still would have been better off buying this bundle.

So... whats inside?

Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion £9.50: This is a lightweight moisturiser for blemished skin that also mattifys the skin without completely drying out. I have found in the past that moisturisers that mattify the skin tend to, when you rub them into the skin sort of peel off as you massage it into your skin... if that makes sense. I have been using this moisturiser for over a week now and I can already feel a difference in my skin, it is so much smoother and my oiliness does seem to be more controlled. So I will definitely be keeping this as part of my skincare routine. I use this everyday in the morning.

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner £6.00: I was particularly wanting to try this toner as I had already used the body shops Sea Weed toner, which I found was really good however it sometimes stung my skin a little bit which, is not so good, but it did do the job of mattifiying my skin and getting rid of excess oils. With this toner, I found that it is so so good, it really helps to take away any excess makeup and dirt on my skin, I tend to concentrate on my T Zone and only lightly go over my cheeks as my cheeks aren't as oily as my T Zone.

Tea Tree 3-in-1 Wash Scrub Mask £8.50: This little number is diverse enough that in can be used as a face wash, face scrub or face mask. I use it around my T Zone, and chin areas as that is where my skin is most oily. I use this every other day as I do find that it can be a little harsh on the skin, so on days where I am not using this I use L'Oreal's pure clay wash as this still helps to get rid of impurities and excess oil.

Tea Tree Night Lotion £10.00: In all honesty, I have never really used night time lotions as part of my skincare routine, I would just put on a regular moisturiser, which is still good but having a product that is targeted to helping your skin over night is so so much better. After using this product I have found that when I wake up my skin is blemish free, super smooth and with little to no oil on my skin when I wake up.

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser £6.00: I use this every morning to help wash off the excess night lotion and any dirt that may have gotten onto my skin as I slept, this really helps to wake me up in the morning and helps prepare my skin for the day ahead.

I have found this Tea Tree range to be quite mild on the skin, so if you do try it and it stings or gives a burning sensation, please stop using it, sometimes we think that because a product is painful, it is working - when that it is not always the case. I personally would recommend those with normal to dry skin to steer clear of the Tea Tree range and possibly go for something more moisturising such as the Vitamin E range.

The girl in the body shop was also very kind enough to give me some free samples of some face masks to try over the next 2 weeks, so if I like them, I'll be buying the full sizes and reviewing for you all! (once pay day hits of course)

Depression is...

As we are in the 21st Century, you would have thought by now that we don't surround mental health with a negative stigma and stereotypes, right? Wrong, we are still very much living in a society that sadly still doesn't understand what it cant physically see.

And I get that, to some extent. It is hard to understand something we can't physically see, but that still doesn't mean we have the right to completely disregard something that is very much real and affects more and more people everyday.

Most people have this idea that mental health, depression, in particular is just an excuse to not do anything and lay around in bed all day, when in fact that is not what depression is at all.

Depression is not washing your hair for over a month because you physically can't bring yourself to get up, not because you're being lazy but because you feel so numb and so lifeless that even when you do try to move, you feel stuck.

Depression is not eating for days even though you're stomach is crying out for nutrition, not because you have an eating disorder or because you're lazy, but because the basic life tasks feels like a marathon to do.

Depression is snapping at the ones you love because you don't want them to see you so numb and so down, You'd rather they think you're angry and push them away than them know you wish you'd not woken up that morning.

Depression is crying until there is no more tears, that you're left staring at the ceiling for hours on end.

Please go easy on your friends or family members that can't bring themselves to get out of bed in the morning, that maybe don't have the best hygiene because the simplest of tasks are too hard to bear. Please listen to them when they want to talk.

During this week and all year round, my messages are always open for those who just want a chat.

Remember, you are enough.

Biggest Haul I've Ever Done...So Far

After a few things not going the way I expected, I decided to shop! I was in dyer need of some retail therapy so decided to splurge a tad...

Beauty Bay:

It all started on Beauty Bay where I purchased the BH Cosmetics Eye Essential 7 Piece Brush Set for just £14.  The brushes are so soft and for the price, do a very good job, I think if you're just getting into makeup or want to get some brushes but are not sure on brands etc, this would be a good place to start.

I also bought 2 Jeffree Star Liquid Lipsticks in the shades Scorpio, how could I not buy a liquid lipstick named after my star sign? And Gemini both at £16. I love Jeffree's liquid lipsticks they're so long lasting and are so so pigmented! Scorpio is a taupe colour while Gemini is a light (ish) nude.

FeelUnique:

I have been dying to get my hands on the Mary-Lou Manizer by The Balm its usually around £20, but it was on sale for just £13.50 on FeelUnique so it was my chance to grab it. And since it made an appearance on my instagram I had loads of people telling me that it was their own holy grail highlighter, and I can certainly see why! It is such a good colour, especially on fair skin and it isnt too shimmery, as for me I don't really like a shimmering highlighter, The packaging is also really cute and vintage like which is always a plus!

Pixi:

I have seen so many people rave about this cult favourite so I had to get my hands on some of the products Pixi has to offer! I bought the Vitamin Mist £16 to help give my skin a boost during the summer as the skin can get very dehydrated with the hot weather and has such a lovely citrus smell to it, which is perfect for the morning when you spray it on your face, I really felt more awake and revitalised. I also got the Glow Tonic £18 which has been a top beauty seller since it launched, I wanted to see for myself what all the hype is about. They both smell amazing as well! I will definitely by doing a little review on these products very soon!

Boots:

Maybelline Fit me Matte+Poreless foundation £5.99: After reading a post online about the best drugstore foundations for oily skin and seeing this in it I had to try it out! I am in the shade 102 Fair Ivory! I have used this a couple of times already and it is a really buildable medium to full coverage foundation and it does really help contain my oiliness, especially around the T zone. I hope you can see from the pictures below that after I blended the foundation into my hand it left a real mattified look on my hand, whoch for me is a huge plus and I am really glad I got this.

Glycerin & Rosewater Toner £2.39: After my friend Holly bought this a few weeks ago and explained how much she loved it, I had to try it out for myself, especially seeing a snapchat story about how rosewater helps to decrease inflammation, reduce bacteria on the skin and also helps moisturise the skin! Glycerin also helps to moisturise and hydrate without making the skin oily - which is definitely what my skin needs! More recently I have also been seeing how more and more popular rose water is becoming within the skincare and beauty industry, I use this every morning and night, by just putting a little bit onto a cotton pad and wiping all around my face. Also at the price of £2.39 this is definitely something everyone needs to try!

NYX:

I love NYX, especially their Matte finish setting spray but I have never bought a lipstick from them and when I swatched this colour on my hand I instantly fell in love. I also saw it on Caito Potatoes youtube video when she did a swatch video of all the liquid suedes. I bought the shade 'Vintage' as you can see its a very dark kind of browny red, in my opinion.

L'Oreal:

I already did a little review on this product here. But I still did buy this recently, the L'Oreal Pure Clay Detox face wash which is currently on offer for £3.99 (it is usually £5.99) So if you fancy giving it ago, I suggest maybe buying it now while it is still on offer, as if you end up not liking its not like you've spent too much on it. However, I think people who like the L'Oreal Pure Clay face masks will also like the face washes too.

Superdrug:

Last but not least, I bought a metallic lip kit from Makeup Revolution in the shade, We Rule, £6.00. The metallic lip kit is gold type colour and thought it would look great at festivals or even over another lipstick too. This was more of a impulse buy as everything was on 3 for 2 and I did want to give this a go so I thought why not?

I also bought the Ultra Flawless 2 Eyeshadow Palette for (at the time, £5.00 as it was on sale) but it is normally priced at £8, which still is very affordable. The colours blend really well and for £8 you get a lot of colours. The colours work really well together and are really pigmented, which I was actually surprised with as I wasn't really expecting that much pigment from a palette that was £8, bargain!
