The Power Of Makeup

While this is mostly a 'youtuber' thing to do, I have decided to do it anyway because in my opinion, I think every blogger/youtuber should do.

THE POWER OF MAKEUP.

For me, I don't use makeup every day - but when I do, I really like to go all out with my makeup. I don't feel like I have to go out of the house with a face full of makeup every but then I totally get if someone is wearing full coverage makeup - like, do you boo.

If I think about it, I started wearing makeup 'properly' when I was about 14, but trust me it was not a sight to be seen I would be wearing a bright blue eye shadow and a foundation 3 shades darker than my real skin tone, but everyone needs to go through that stage, right?

So, I have decided to share with you a bare faced selfie of me without ANY makeup or filter and then a selfie with what I would usually wear on a night out.

Hello makeup free me: So, this was literally taken about 5 minutes ago (please excuse the eyebrows) I'd like to think I am confident enough to be able to go out of the house without any makeup on, simply because - I am not put on this earth to impress every single stranger that lays their eyes on me. While I understand other people may like to go out of the house everyday with makeup and thats cool, we aren't here to judge anyone based on just their appearance.

And this is me when I have done my makeup (I'm no makeup artist but I like to think I do a good job sometimes)
These were both taken last night before me and my friends met up to go to the Slug and Lettuce, a bar in town. They have 2 for 1 cocktails YAS!.

I know you probably can't see this well, but I used the Sleek Diamonds In the Rough Palette, the Morphe Palette in 35N the NYX Matte Liquid Liner and the Two Faced Better Than Sex Mascara for my eyes. the MAC Soft and Gentle MSF and the MYX Matte Bronzer for highlighting and lightly contouring. Lastly I used the Urban Decay 'De-Slick' Setting spray as I have quite oily skin. Later on however I did apply my lipstick Taupe by Mac.

I know this isn't an extreme makeup look, in some peoples opinion, but for me I spent a lot of time on my eyes haha.

I feel makeup is different for everyone, there are people who have no care for it, have some interest and then those who live and breathe makeup, which both options are fine!! Everyone is different.

Winter Must Haves!

Is it me or has the temperature in the UK really dropped in the past few weeks? So I thought I would do a post about what we all need when we are braving to go out in the cold!

Scarves: In my opinion, scarves are definitely a must have during the winter, it keeps your neck and ears warm and if you're like me I like to wrap it over my nose and mouth to keep my nose from going red and making me look like Rudolph. If i'm honest I haven't always been a lover of scarves however I have recently found one I adore! This scarf from The Lifestyle Blogger UK is super soft, lightweight but also extremely warm! And the fact that it isn't bulky or heavy like so many other scarves can be makes it very easy to put on and take off especially if I am in a hurry.

Gloves: Gloves are one of the most important things to have if you have dry hands or if you have low blood circulation, like myself and many other people 'Raynauds' Can be extremely painful when your hands and feet get extremely cold during the winter. There are so many different types of gloves out their too (fingerless ones, mittens, cashmere lined etc that there is possibly a design for everyone - even for the most fussiest person in the world.

Fluffy Socks: I usually wear these around the house 365 days a year, not just for winter but during the cold season they are amazing - You can even get 'wearable' fluffy socks that can be worn outside without them looking like they're clearly meant to be part of your pyjama set. My favourite fluffy socks right now have to be ones that my cousins got me for my birthday and the ones my ex boyfriend got me when we were together from ASDA

Onesies: Everyone remember that craze a few years ago when literally everyone on earth owned an over sized baby grow? Yeah they're still pretty relevant in 2017 because they're so comfy and so easy to put on after a hard day at work or college and you just want to relax. However, you have to be pretty confident to go outside in one.. I did but chose to stay in the car and got a few looks, but oh well.

Scented CandlesDuring winter, many of us would rather curl up on the sofa or stay in bed and watch endless tv series or movies instead of going outside in the cold. For me, scented candles are a must during winter, because, who doesn't love a good candle during the winter season? And over christmas and new year all the candle companies release some of their best scents! For Christmas this year, I bought my mum a Yankee Candle set which you can see in my Christmas Gift Guide For Her post for the link and my opinion on it, however as it was purchased over the Christmas period, I don't know if the product is still available - but you could always put it on your wish list for Christmas 2017!

These of course are some of my favourite winter must haves, but what are yours? Feel free to comment your favourites too!

New Year..New Me?

Every January 1st, people say they are going to be a better person, not eat so many biscuits or whatever but by January 3rd, the same people are doing the exact thing they said they wouldn't or that they would change 2 days before. (I am just generalising, obviously there are extremely driven and hard working people who stick to every resolution they make and that is something to be proud of - I wish I could do it!!)

For me, I never ever make resolutions - not because I think I don't need them (I probably do...) but its just the fact that I 100% know I will never be able to stick to them.

I think instead of 'resolutions' its better to go into a new year with achievable goals that are easily met, for example;

Do a good deed - simple? yes. Doable? yes. Its something that is easily found, for example if you see someone has dropped something on the floor, pick it up for them and give it to them - don't run away with it. Recently I signed up to the charity Oxfam, who will send me personalised tags and bags to give away my unwanted clothes or possessions in order to help out those in need.

Save money - again, this is as simple as doing a good deed however it takes a little bit more motivation to keep it going - as we all know the temptation to dig into our savings every now and again. Even if its putting your loose change into a money box or putting £5 in every day, you'll be surprised how much you'll save over the year - one year I managed to save over £100 in just loose change, needless to say I spent in one day and had to start all over again.

Give to charity - another simple goal that is achievable at any time! Literally gather up all your unwanted belongings (obviously not something that means a lot to you or your family, unless you want to) even if its an old book or old teddy, any charity shop would be grateful for any donations you make. It also means you'll have room in your wardrobe or bedroom or wherever for new things you've been wanting to buy.

Learn to cook - This is one of my goals for 2017, seeing as I am a first year in uni cooking has becoming a thing I have NEEDED to learn.  Not going to lie, it hasn't been too easy somethings have burnt and have needed to be thrown in the bin right away but so long as you follow a recipe what could go wrong? This is also a life time skill you'll need when you move out and your parents aren't cooking you homemade dinners each night.

Read Books - While this seems like a weird 'goal' seeing as the 21st Century is revolving around technology it is easy to forget that actual books exist (unless you work in a shop that sells books) I, myself haven't actually read in a good year or 2 even so I am determined to finish a book or 2 this year, any recommendations?

Its important to have goals that are easy to achieve and that you don't bombard yourself with too many goals either, here I have 5 which I believe is enough to achieve over a few months and if you finish all your goals before the end of the year, make new ones!

And remember to possibly set a date of completion to make yourself fully motivated in completing your goal before the year ends.

My Mac lipstick collection

HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVELIES!

I hope you're all rested after the Christmas season and new year celebrations!!

I thought for my first blog post for the new year, what would be a better thing to write about then to give you a little show of my mac lipstick collection (which I promise you may all look the same in my photos because I haven't invested in a "proper" camera yet so have to make do with my camera on my iPhone which, don't get me wrong is great however it didn't manage to pick up on the small but huge difference in my mac lipsticks - I'll link each product to the mac website so you can fully see the differences.

ANYWAY... getting to the good bit.

I know there are millions of other people who have way more lipsticks in their collection but I am pretty proud of how I'm doing at the moment. As of now, I have 8 lipsticks (2 the same) and 4 lip liners (2 the same) because I wear these the most often so run out quickly.

LIP LINERS £13.00
  • Soar - is the pinkest liners I have at the moment which really accompanies Sprit, Faux and Brave (for my skin tone anyway which is very fair)
  • Spice - is more of a brown colour which goes well with Yash, Taupe and Velvet Teddy
  • Boldly Bare - I got this last week along with one accompanying lipstick, Kinda Sexy and so far I have no regrets of buying it at all.

LIPSTICKS £15.50

                       YASH

For me, Yash is the perfect nude and goes with so many different looks, If you're going out for the night and want more attention to be paid to your eye makeup than your lips, this is the perfect shade to use as it doesn't take any limelight away from your perfect smokey, glitter or perfect winged liner. It is very close to the same shade as Velvet Teddy, however I think Yash, for me is a little on the browner side. Lastly, the matte finish is brilliant - most of my lipsticks are matte or a satin finish.

                                                        KINDA SEXY

Kinda Sexy is also a matte finish with a neutral shade however is on the pinker side of the neutral scale than Yash is. Seeing as I have only purchased this a week ago I haven't been fully been able to wear it as much that I can really see how it goes with my skin tone however, from when I have worn it I can tell the difference immensely that this is definitely one of my brighter lipstick shades (even though, like I said they may look the same in this post)

                     TAUPE

Taupe is one of my darkest shades which also has a matte finish to it. However, unlike Yash, instead of being more brown Taupe has a reddish undertone to it. From what i have used of it so far in the past week, it does seem to be close to the shade Spirit.

                                                              FAUX

Faux is also a new purchase I made completely on the spot, I did a quick swatch of it in store and immediately really liked the shade. The satin finish is perfect for this shade of pink - again it may look the same to previous shades but there are little (big) differences in the shades that if you're looking for, you can see - if that makes any sense?

                    BRAVE

Brave has been one of the top lipsticks I have been wanting to get ever since I saw Youtuber, Sabrina (Lovelaughandmakeup) do a swatch of it a few months ago and as soon as I saw it I HAD TO HAVE IT. It is one of the lightest shades in my collection at the moment seeing as most of the lipsticks I have are quite dark neutrals, a pink was well welcomed. It is also a satin finish.

                                                              SPIRIT

As you can see, I have pretty much used this all up because its one of the best purchases I have ever made. This shade always looks a bit darker on me which I love if I'm wearing anything dark or I'm wearing a dark red eyeshadow colour and I want a dark pinky-brown shade to complement, this is the shade I go to.

              VELVET TEDDY

Remember when everyone saw Kylie Jenner wearing this shade and it sold out worldwide for ages??? I finally got my hands on this earlier in the year when I went on holiday to Florida. Velvet Teddy and Yash seem to be on the same shade level, however I have found that Velvet Teddy looks different on everyone, 2 of my friends have it and one day we all wore it and on each of us it looked slightly different for example a little pinker or darker.

I hope you'll find this helpful if you're thinking of getting a new lipstick or if you're new to the makeup world. If you have one particular lipstick you can't live without comment below so I and others can see if they want to try it out!
